Giant 3D Pin Badges Inspired by Punk Music
Tony Dennis, known by his artistic moniker Tape Deck Art is a self-taught British contemporary artist celebrated for his innovative fusion of music, design, and nostalgia. Artistic Journey
In early 2016, Tony sought to create something eye-catching and unique, inspired by his growing collection of vintage punk badges. After nearly nine months of research and prototype development, he brought his idea to life, painting his first giant 3D pin badge in 2017. What began as a creative experiment quickly gained attention, with his badges now showcased in galleries across the UK and the United States.
Style and Techniques
Tape Deck Art's work is characterised by its bold, tactile designs - each badge a larger-than-life tribute to an actual pin from the punk era. His process involves meticulous research, as Tony replicates original badge designs from the punk scene, with a particular focus on the iconic badges produced by Better Badges between 1976 and 1984. His use of vibrant colours, oversized scale, and 3D texture gives his artwork a unique, playful quality that connects with music lovers and design enthusiasts alike.
