Maaxx’s work exists at the intersection of technology and tradition. He uses cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create inspirational reference images that he then turns into masterful oil paintings.

He draws influence from the great figurative artists of the past, most notably John Singer Sargent, as well as more recent artists he admires working in the style of disrupted realism. In so doing, Maax’s paintings employ both time-honoured and contemporary techniques, creating a visual convergence of the old with the new.

Not only has Maaxx studied with artists on both sides of the Atlantic, he has managed to fuse that passion with his background as a software expert to create a perfect marriage of the two worlds within these innovative artworks.

Not only are they are beautiful to look at, Maaxx’s paintings also appeal to us on a psychological level, inviting the viewer to enter into a dialogue on what it means to be human in the age of AI. By feeling a human connection to an image of a person that was manufactured in cyberspace, what does that say about our sense of identity?

Using AI as the starting point, and adding his own imagination and unquestionable painting skills, Maaxx’s art blurs the line between the corporeal and the ethereal, transcending the very boundaries of reality to evoke strong emotions on a deep, subconscious level.
